South Barn is the perfect retreat for a family escape, blending modern style with traditional charm. Backing onto the Brendon and Quantock hills, on the boundary of Exmoor National Park, it's surrounded by nature is a fabulous base for walking, sightseeing, relaxing and exploring!
South Barn is a charming two bedroom holiday cottage blending modern style with traditional charm. Nestled against the Brendon and Quantock Hills and surrounded by nature, it offers a fantastic base for walking, sightseeing, and unwinding in peaceful surroundings. Sleeps up to 4 guests in 2 bedrooms One galleried double bedroom One twin bedroom Bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet Wood-burner (first basket of logs included) plus central heating Smart TV, DVD player, PS4 available on request Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included (Speed may vary due to rural location) Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome, for an additional £20 each per stay Dog washing area for muddy paws and extra dog towels available on request Enclosed patio with seating BBQ and a selection of outdoor games available on request Private off-road parking Strictly no smoking Arrival from 4 pm Departure by 10 am South Barn is located on a small holding of 6 acres, including a pond. There are two other holiday cottages on the same site that sleep up to 2 or 4 guests, and the owners live in the main house nearby. Guests are welcome to share the wider gardens and use the paddock for dogs - if it is not occupied by sheep at the time. Please note children must be supervised around the nearby pond. *Security Deposit* A security deposit of £150 is required when booking this property. This will be added to the total price of your booking, and will be refunded after your stay unless the owner discovers damage to the property or its contents after your departure

As you step into this characterful barn conversion, you’ll notice original features like exposed beams that add to its charm and a stunning view over the lake and surrounding hills. The lounge/diner is stylishly furnished and welcoming, with comfortable seating, a Smart TV, DVD player, and a cosy wood burner—perfect for unwinding after a day out. The dining area offers a great spot for relaxed meals. The well-equipped kitchen includes an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, and fridge/freezer. A separate utility room, shared with other properties on-site, houses the washing machine and clothes airers. The bathroom features a freestanding roll-top bath, a spacious walk-in shower, and a WC. Upstairs, there are two inviting bedrooms: a galleried king room overlooking the lounge at one end, and a comfortable twin room at the other.

Outside, the enclosed patio offers seating with views over the pond and rolling hills. A selection of outdoor games and a BBQ are available on request. Guests can also explore the surrounding six acres of land, occasionally home to cows and sheep. For dog owners, there’s a dedicated dog wash area, and if the 3.5-acre paddock is free of sheep, it’s a great space for your dog to run off some energy. There are two other properties on the farm - Hillside and The Linhay, sleeping 2 or 4 guests, they share access to the wider grounds of the farm, pond and 3.5 acre paddock.

Luttrell Arms Dunster High Street - Fabulous old building and gorgeous garden, food is really good, have to book a table for the weekend. Reeves Dunster High Street - Stunning food and personal service have to book for the weekend. Royal Oak Luxborough - Good food, with cosy open fires in the winter. Ship Inn Porlock Weir - Great pub and beer festival every July. Porlock Bay Oyster - Fresh oysters hot and cold, with very delicious mains to add. Pebbles Tavern Watchet - This small unique tavern has won numerous CAMRA awards for Cider Pub of the Year.†¨ The Bittescombe Inn Upton - Lovely pub with good food sourced from the local estate and surrounding area. The Farmers Arms Coombe Florey - Lovely Thatched Inn, very cosy in the winter and lovely beer garden in the warmer months. Steaks are fabulous! The Bear Inn Wiveliscombe - Great local pub with its own micro brewery, food is also very good and use local produce.

South Barn as lots of circular walks long and short which you are free to use and take in and around the area, these are some on our favourites Haddon Hill -A stunning 3 mile circular walk on Exmoor, only a 10 mins drive from with great costal views and the chance to spot a famous Exmoor Pony. Dunster Beach - This beautiful beach is located about 20 minutes from us, with plenty of parking and stunning views of the coast, with the added bonus of being dog friendly all year round. Kilve beach - is halfway between Minehead and Bridgwater, in the heart of the Quantocks. Rock pools and fossils, perfect low tide activity. Quantock Hills - Were England’s first area of outstanding natural beauty. There are many ways to explore this stunning area, a good starting point is the village of Holford. Porlock Weir is a beautiful harbour, one of the most magical and traditional places within Exmoor. Watchet to Blue Anchor Beach Walk - This coastal walk takes you from the historic harbour town of Watchet to the pebble beach at Blue Anchor, passing through beautiful countryside and coastal landscapes. Dunster Castle and Woodland Walk - This scenic walk takes you through the beautiful woodland surrounding Dunster Castle, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
