The Tower in Simonsbath is a unique converted barn over 3 levels, ideal for a romantic getaway in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. Fully refurbished from top to bottom, it offers a superior getaway for up to 2 adult guests, and the local pub with restaurant is within easy walking distance too!
The Tower in Simonsbath is a traditional stone building that has recently been renovated to a high standard, incorporating all modern conveniences to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The owners have worked hard to ensure the charm and character of this quirky property has been retained across all three levels. Entrance to the property via external steps with metal handrail into the living area. Stairs lead downstairs to the well-equipped kitchen, with breakfast bar and there is an external door here into the garden also. The shower room is also on this level. From the living area, paddle stairs lead up to the top level, where the bedroom is located. The Tower is one of two detached barn conversions in the centre of Simonsbath, set back from the road within a pretty walled garden, each with their own separate outside areas.

The kitchen is equipped with all new appliances, including a washer and tumble dryer, electric oven and hob, free standing fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster plus crockery, cutlery, glasses and cookware. The shower room is also on this ground floor. The stairs from the kitchen to sitting room which has a plush sofa and smart TV, and wifi is available throughout. Follow the ingeniously designed paddle stairs to access the rooftop bedroom, which includes integrated cupboard space. Additionally, there are hanging areas along the side of the stairs for clothing and essentials. Note, the bedroom has low ceilings in places, strategically designed to optimise the space. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Central heating is fitted throughout the property. Bed linen and towels are provided for your convenience. Please bring outdoor/beach towels if you wish to take them with you on day trips.

Enjoy dinner al fresco on the wooden garden table and chairs, help yourself to the herbs growing in the circular planter when cooking. There is another holiday cottage nearby (sleeps 4, adult only), the cottages are set in an open-plan area but each one has its own space. The local pub is just across the road, within easy walking distance for meals out or for a drink at the bar. There is a village store in Exford about four miles away, or a mini-supermarket at Wheddon Cross another 5 miles on from Exford. For your larger supermarkets South Molton which is 11 miles away.

Often referred to as England's best kept secret, Exmoor is a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors! There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expe...ditions across the moors, wooded valleys or coastal paths. As well as horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets. There are plenty of interesting places to visit during your stay including Tarr Steps near Winsford, the popular country towns of Dulverton and South Molton, West Somerset Steam Railway, National Trust properties including Dunster Castle, Arlington Court, Knightshayes and many more. The surfing beaches of North Devon are easily reached and the South West Coastal Path and Coleridge Way. The Tower is ideally situated to take advantage of all country pursuits a step from the door, in addition the coast to the north is within easy reach and provides a wealth of water sports such as sailing and surfing. Nearby is the historic market town of Dulverton, the southern gateway to Exmoor. There are lots to explore including antiques and galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Also worth a visit is Lynton and Lynmouth, the Victorians named these two villages ‘Little Switzerland’, they are situated at the mouth of the River Lyn. From Lynmouth you can access Lynton (the higher of the two villages) either via a Victorian water-powered cliff railway, a foot path, or in the car via the road. You will find traditional fisherman’s cottages, shops and cafes. Along the coast nearby you will find the magnificent rugged setting of the Valley of the Rocks.
There is a wealth of places to eat and drink The Exmoor Forest Inn with its fantastic menu recently going into the Good Food Guide is just across the road from the barns so you can pop over for a drink or a bite to eat without need of your car. Also nearby is The Black Venus pub at Challacombe another great pub to eat and is approx a ten minute drive from Simonsbath. Woods Bar & Restaurant a fantastic bar and restaurant in nearby Dulverton the wine list has won numerous national awards and the food is great. The Royal Oak Inn at Withypool good food and for those keen walkers amongst you can walk from Birch Cleave Barns to the pub and back if you prefer bring along your horse and ride the breathtaking bridlepath across the moor to the pub. The area offers a wealth of things to do and see a real haven for the walkers amongst you whether you wish to walk the wild expanse of the Exmoor National park or follow the coastal routes with the spectacular views over the sea. Exmoor offers a wealth of bridlepaths that are clearly marked and can be found online. Simonsbath Festival runs every year with lots of things to see and do.
Here are some walks and beaches you can explore from Simon's Bath: Walks: Tarr Steps and River Barle Walk - This is a circular walk that starts at Tarr Steps and takes you along the River Barle. The walk is approximately 6 miles long and takes around 3 hours to complete. Dunkery Beacon - This is the highest point in Exmoor National Park and offers stunning views across the countryside. The walk is approximately 3 miles long and takes around 2 hours to complete. Horner Water and Lank Combe Walk - This is a circular walk that takes you through some beautiful wooded valleys and along the Horner Water. The walk is approximately 5 miles long and takes around 2.5 hours to complete. Beaches: Lynmouth Beach - This is a shingle beach located on the North Devon coast, approximately 10 miles from Simonsbath. It's a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing. Also the famous Lynton and Lynmouth cliff railway with its spectacular views the worlds highest and steepest completely water powered railway. Porlock Weir Beach - This is a small pebble beach located on the West Somerset coast, approximately 10 miles from Simonsbath. It's a quiet and peaceful spot that's perfect for a relaxing day out. Woolacombe Beach - This is a long sandy beach located on the North Devon coast, approximately 25 miles from Simonsbath. It's a popular spot for surfing and other water sports.
