The region
+ MoreMinehead is probably most well known for being a lovely seaside town, and it also sits on the edge of Exmoor National Park - if walking is your passion, there is no better place to be. Not only do you have Exmoor stretching out before you with its magnificent views, wildlife and ...cosy pubs, the town is also the starting point of the Southwest National Trail, the longest distance countryside trail we have. It's also the terminus for West Somerset Railway, the longest heritage railway in Britain. Exmoor is often referred to as England's best kept secret, it's a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors! There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expeditions across the moors or horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets. If your passion is sea fishing, details of who to contact for a day on the water are noted in our welcome pack along with many other optional excursions available.
There are many eateries, pubs and bars to try, and restaurants to cater for varying taste subject to your preference. Our welcome pack provides recommendations and contact details for some of the restaurants we have enjoyed, along with local recommended taxi drivers, most of which are just a few minutes away. We'll help you with anything you need to know, should you require. Have fun !
We have provided many tourist information leaflets and ideas for excursions, days out and evening entertainment for all ages, all or which are available for you to browse through at Westhaven. All the information you need in respect of "things to do" is just on the hall table. If you have any queries, or need help with anything, just call us!
If walking is your passion, you are certainly in the right place. We have provided local walking maps for you to look through, and highly recommend you get out amongst it all. It is a must, check out the hidden gems which lie within, arguably one of the most beautiful counties in England! On your doorstep is Minehead' sandy beach with seaside attractions, and historic harbour at the end of Quay Street.
