The Dog House, Porlock (Somerset) is a spacious holiday cottage situated in the heart of this stunning Exmoor village, and less than a mile to the coastline. Ideal for families or groups, The Dog House has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, off-road parking, a private courtyard garden and is dog-friendly
The Dog House is a beautiful semi-detached house dating back to the early 1900's and is situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Porlock, Somerset, but off the main thoroughfare. Only a few minutes stroll to all pubs, shops and restaurants and a mere 20minute walk to Porlock beach, makes this the ideal holiday home from which to explore. The property offers well-proportioned holiday accommodation over three levels and has been remodelled and renovated in recent years to include all the modern conveniences of a quality holiday cottage. It boasts four bedrooms, three with their own en-suite facilities, and a superb open-plan ground floor living space which leads out to a delightful enclosed courtyard garden. Sadly it cannot accommodate four legged friends who chew furniture, bark excessively or enjoy sleeping upstairs. Security deposit A security deposit of £300 is required when booking this property. This amount will be added to the total price of your booking and will be refunded after your stay unless the owner discovers damage to the property or its contents after your departure. The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Saturday changeover only in peak periods. Arranged over three floors the accommodation comprises; entrance porch into the hallway and the stairs lead up to first floor. The ground floor is largely open-plan; the sitting room has a wood-burner with comfortable seating and TV, and French door out to the rear courtyard area. The superb kitchen-dining room is spacious and includes modern appliances such as an integrated induction hob, eye level oven with warming drawer, dishwasher, tall fridge-freezer, kettle and toaster. Ample crockery, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils are also provided. Staying on the ground floor there is a large utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, microwave and a separate cloakroom with toilet and hand basin. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with views towards the surrounding hills. The double bedroom has a king-sized bed and an en-suite wet room including toilet and hand basin. There is also a family bathroom on the first floor which comprises bath with mixer tap and hand shower attachment, toilet and hand basin. Upstairs again to the second floor there are two further bedrooms, both with double beds, and with views to the surrounding hills. Both also have en-suite shower rooms including toilets and hand basins. Heating and electricity is included in the price of your accommodation. There is oil-fired underfloor heating to the ground and first floors, plus a wood-burner in the sitting room. A starter basket of logs will be provided in the cooler months (December to February). Further logs can be purchased locally in the village. Wifi is available at no extra cost, provided by fibre broadband with current speeds of 40-50mb download/8mb upload. Bed linen and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels if you want to take them on day trips or use towels outside. Well behaved dogs welcome (2 max) for £15 supplement per dog per booking. Dogs are welcome downstairs only please. Sadly it cannot accommodate four legged friends who chew furniture, bark excessively or enjoy sleeping upstairs.

At the front of the property is a small garden which is crazy paved with shrub borders behind low wall with wrought iron pedestrian gate. To the rear is a private walled courtyard with table and chairs for dining outside. The rear courtyard is only accessible via the living room patio doors (there is no external access directly into this area). It's an easy walk to all village amenities, Porlock is a wonderful working Exmoor village boasting three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, hardware shop, visitor centre, several art galleries and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms.

For the size of the village, there are simply loads of places to eat! Discover delightful tea rooms, traditional pubs and family run restaurants. There are takeaway options too! All amenities in the Village are within easy walking distance of The Dog House. Many establishments have varied opening times depending on the day/Season so it is worth checking in advance. They are also very popular so early booking (even for takeaway services) is recommended to avoid disappointment. Walking Porlock Vale is a popular walking destination thanks to its varied terrain and landscape. It is the perfect location for anyone who wants to explore the many walks across Exmoor including: the Two Moors Way, the South West Coast Path and The Coleridge Way. Photographers can capture stunning wildlife including Exmoor ponies and red deer, while landscape photographers will be blown away by the Exmoor scenery. Much of the Vale is managed by Exmoor National Park and The National Trust providing many opportunities to explore its rich abundance of footpaths.
