The Folly in Bratton Fleming (Devon) is a romantic riverside retreat. This holiday cottage offers luxurious holiday accommodation for up to two guests, ideal for a special occasion or if you just want to escape the pressures of everyday life and indulge yourself.
The Folly in Bratton Fleming is part of a charming former mill, set in the valley beneath the village of Bratton Fleming in North Devon, tucked away down a meandering private lane. The well-equipped studio kitchen is situated in the corner, with circular table and chairs nearby, plus a comfortable sofa. The bathroom has a double ended roll top bath, a Victorian chandelier with dimmer, a circular blue and white porcelain Georgian washstand (plumbed in!) with double handed pitcher beneath and toilet. The Folly shares a private drive with two further holiday properties. Each property has it's own parking area and gardens, but they are not enclosed. Appliances and equipment The kitchen is compact yet well-equipped and includes a ceramic hob (two rings), a combination oven/microwave/grill and larder fridge with freezer compartment. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a selection of cookware and kitchen utensils plus beautiful china, glass and cutlery. The television, DVD, and radio are all discreetly placed. Wifi is available throughout the property. An iron, ironing board and hair dryer are all provided for your convenience. Please note, there is no mobile phone reception due to the location of the property. Electricity and heating Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. The Folly has central heating which will be programmed for you, yet can be adjusted to suit your preferences. Linen and towels Beautiful White Company bed linen, duvets, large fluffy towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own outdoor/beach towels. Other provisions Tea, coffee and sugar will be provided. There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and oil available. Household sundries such as toilet rolls, washing-up liquid, tea towels will also be provided. Outside the property There is a large lawn beside The Folly, bordered on one side by the stream. The garden is available for guests’ sole use, however please note that it is not enclosed. There is a patio area directly beside the property, with a small table, two chairs and a built in barbecue. Wooden sun loungers with comfortable cushions are provided so you can relax and truly unwind listening to the stream in this peaceful spot. Parking There is parking for two cars beside The Folly. Dogs Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 2). A supplementary fee of £15 will be added to your invoice per dog. Please do not allow you dogs on the furniture, and do not leave them alone in the property at any time. Smoking Strictly no smoking. Arrival and departure The property will be ready from 3 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests. Changeover days The Folly in Bratton Fleming is available for week-long bookings and short breaks, minimum stay is 3 nights.

+ MoreThe Folly is set on the western edge of Exmoor National Park within walking distance of the village of Bratton Fleming with which has a Village Store, Post Office, garage workshop and 2 churches. The larger town of Barnstaple is approx 8 miles, here you will find supermarkets and... a variety of other shops. There are many charming village pubs and restaurants to explore. The Fox & Goose at Parracombe and The Black Venus at Challacombe are particularly recommended. Local area The Folly is part of Bratton Mill, which is set 28 tranquil acres of garden, woodland and undulating pastureland. This secluded wooded valley is rich with wildlife – red deer, buzzards, you may even catch a glimpse of a flash of the kingfisher, conferences of dragonflies and occasionally an otter or stoat. Enjoying riverside strolls or circular walks through outstanding countryside from the front door is a must. The Folly is also close to the dramatic North Devon coast with beautiful sandy beaches and towering cliffs, the South West Coastal Path.
