June on Exmoor is absolute heaven. The longest days of the year give you even more sunshine hours to appreciate it in all its beauty. Of course, every month, Exmoor has a host of events, activities & seasonal stuff to get involved with. But here’s what’s happening this year (2023!) throughout the glorious month of June on Exmoor…
Thursday 1st June
Rockpooling with Rangers
Something really fun that’s often on offer at the sea’s edge in Lynmouth, is Rockpooling with Rangers. Join the Exmoor National Park Rangers for a seashore safari – for free! All equipment is provided – nets, buckets etc – and you don’t need to book you just turn up at Lynmouth National Park Centre – contact: 07970099116. Get up close and personal with crabs, barnacles, starfish, urchins and sea snails. Such fun for kids! More info here.

Saturday 3rd June
The Exmoor Coast & Doone Valley Adventure
Film director, presenter & mountain leader Abbie Barnes runs a company called Spend More Time In The Wild, which helps you to do just that. A huge advocate for the undeniable health benefits of the great outdoors, she will be running a day long adventure in the wiles of extraordinary Exmoor on Saturday 3rd June. This is no ordinary guided walk – this will take you on an incredible journey and you’ll be guided to the most special views and get to see all sorts of Exmoor wildlife along the way. Photography Workshop
Professional photographer Mark Stothard regularly offers the opportunity to improve your photography skills with the beautiful Exmoor as your muse. If you love capturing the magic of the places you visit, and were probably going to be snapping away on Exmoor anyway, why not learn how to get the most out of your camera and do justice to your stunning surroundings? Friday 16th June
Hawkcombe Nature Reserve Butterfly Walk
If going in search of butterflies in the beautiful Hawkcombe Nature Reserve isn’t a dreamy way to spend an afternoon then we don’t know what is. Join Exmoor National Park Authority Woodland Officer Graham McVittie for a butterfly spotting wonderwalk. Cost: £5pp – booking essential- contact: 01398323335.

Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th June
Taunton Garrison Weekend at Dunster Castle
Fancy a bit of English Civil War history? Well then Dunster Castle on the weekend of 17th & 18th June on Exmoor is the place for you. The Taunton Garrison are bringing a living history camp to this medieval site for you to fully immerse yourself in. Great fun for kids & history buffs alike. More info here.
Saturday 24th June
Dulverton Farmers Market
On the last Saturday of every month (April-September) the Dulverton Farmers Market springs to life. Go along for the opportunity to purchase gorgeous local produce, such as ales from The Cottage Beer Project, Northmoor Gin from The Exmoor Distillery, fresh bread from Lucho Bakes, preserves and chutneys from The Selworthy Pantry and spicy stuff from The Culmstock Chilli Co, as well as a range of beautiful arts & crafts.

Weirfest!
And this month saves the best til last… It’s Porlock Weir’s annual beer festival Weirfest! If you happen to be on Exmoor this last weekend of June/first weekend of July, then you are in for a treat; — live music, a range of food options served all day, including hog roasts, and 50+ real ales, lagers & ciders. In fact we recommend planning a trip to stay in Porlock Weir especially for this Exmoor extravaganza. There are 14 bands playing across 4 days and it will be an absolute hoot.
