Blue Anchor Beach is a sand and shingle beach alongside the village of Blue Anchor in West Somerset. A great place for a dog walk or Sunday stroll, the beach stretches for miles with views across to Wales and North Hill at Minehead. The shallow gradient allows for a large width of sand, particularly at low tide.
Blue Anchor is approximately 3 miles east of Dunster. Travelling east along the A39, you can head off at Carhampton to find Blue Anchor. Alternatively, travel along the small coastal road past Watchet. This coastal road takes you right along the beach front, railings sitting on top of the concrete wall bordering the back of the beach.
The Driftwood Cafe is a great spot for lunch, a coffee or icecream. The Smugglers Inn offers good pub grub and a pint, towards the east end of the beach.
Blue Anchor Beach Parking and Access
Parking is very easy here, with several parking bays along the road edge at the top of the beach. These are free for public use, opposite the cafe/ice cream shop. There are a set of concrete steps with railings from the level of the road to the beach.

Dogs are permitted off the lead at all times of year here. You can walk along the beach or the footpath towards Dunster, with fields to your left. The West Somerset Railway train follows this route, so you may be lucky to spot this charming steam train as you go.
