There's no two ways about it - Quay Cottage is iconic; if you have been to Porlock Weir, you will undoubtedly recognise this cottage.
We are delighted to offer this deceptively spacious thatched property in the heart of Porlock Weir for your holiday destination. Overlooking the harbour on one side and a private walled garden backing onto the beach on the other, this really is a unique property that just radiates character and charm. Downstairs is a large sitting room with open fireplace, dining area with adjoining kitchen, a twin bedroom and bathroom with shower attachment over the bath. Sliding glass doors from the dining area lead into a private garden with further seating. Two designated parking spaces are situated across the footbridge at Porlock Weir, approximately 75 metres walk. Appliances and equipment Quay Cottage kitchen is fitted with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, microwave, electric cooker with ceramic hob. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A television, DVD player and CD player is provided. Wireless broadband is available throughout the property. There is an iron and ironing board under the stairs. Electricity and heating Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Quay Cottage has central heating and there is also a wood-burning stove in the sitting room; kindling, matches and one basket of logs will be provided. Additional logs can be purchased from the hardware shop in Porlock. Linen and towels Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Travel cot can be provided on request (bed linen is not supplied for the cot). There is no high chair available at this property. Other provisions There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, and surface cleaner will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided. Outside the property From the dining area patio doors open onto a courtyard area with outside table and chairs, beyond which is a private walled garden with raised decking and a swinging seat. Parking Designated parking for two cars is available at Porlock Weir, which is a short walk (approximately 75 metres) across the bridge at the harbour and onto Turkey Island. Dogs Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 3). A supplementary fee of £15 will be added to your invoice per dog. Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs and do not leave them alone in the property at any time. Smoking Quay Cottage is strictly non-smoking. Arrival and departure The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests. Changeover days Quay Cottage is available for week breaks (Friday to Friday) during peak periods, and short breaks are available at other times.

Please note Quay Cottage has low water pressure due to the location of the property on the island. We are unable to improve due to supply coming under the harbour. If you require high-pressure water for your stay, Quay Cottage has not the best choice for you.

There are two restaurants (Porlock Weir Hotel and Locanda at the Weir), a pub (The Bottom Ship Inn, dog-friendly) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass, etc. The village of Porlock is approxim...ately 1.5 miles from Quay Cottage and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. Many of the shops in Porlock Weir and Porlock are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 7 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
