Rectory Stables was once the stable block for The Old Rectory, as the name suggests! Today Rectory Stables offers delightful holiday accommodation for two guests in this beautiful part of Exmoor.

The two properties have separate entrances and outside areas. Please note: Malmsmead is situated in a valley on Exmoor and therefore mobile phone signal cannot be obtained, however the owners live in the adjoining property and you may use their landline for any emergency phone calls. Wifi is available in the property at no extra cost. Dogs Sorry, dogs are not permitted in Rectory Stables. Smoking Rectory Stables is strictly non-smoking. Arrival and departure The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests. Changeover days Rectory Stables is available for short breaks of three or four nights and week-long bookings. Please see our availability page for further details.

The open-plan living area is upstairs with a juliette balcony overlooking the gardens; there is a compact kitchen area which is well equipped with counter-top oven with two hobs, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, cookware, crockery, cutlery and glasses. In the living area there is a table and chairs for dining, two comfortable chairs, plus a day-bed which could be used as a bed if guests prefer to have separate rooms. The television has Freeview, there is also a DVD player and CD player provided. Wireless internet is available throughout the property at no extra cost. The bedroom and bathroom are situated downstairs. There is a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawer in the bedroom. The bathroom is comprised of shower over the bath, hand basin and toilet. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Rectory Stables is fitted with central heating. Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided.

Directly outside the front door is a table and two chairs. To the front of the property is a small lawn with a bench and to the rear is a large lawned garden which is available for the guests use, the views across the valley are a delight.

+ MoreMalmsmead is a hamlet on Exmoor, however you are be able to purchase treats and take-away food from the Lorna Doone Arms which is situated beside the river just beyond the packhorse bridge a few minutes away on foot. The Lorna Doone Arms is also licensed so you can enjoy a coupl...e of drinks with a meal, and all within easy walking distance. Please note that the Lorna Doone Arms may be closed during the winter season (October to Easter). There is also a lovely homewares/gift shop in Malmsmead. Malmsmead is approximately 7 miles from both Lynton and Porlock. The village of Porlock has three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, Post Office, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. Lynton is a small town in the opposite direction and boasts similar amenities, both well worth a visit. For meals or a pint (further afield that the Lorna Doone Arms) there is The Staghunters Inn in Brendon and The Culbone Inn (en-route to Porlock) which is locally renowned for excellent food. Lynton and Lynmouth also has a good selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Minehead is approximately 12 miles from the cottage (beyond Porlock). Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
Lorna Doone Arms is within walking distance just beyond the packhorse bridge in Malmsmead. They serve meals (eat in or take away), teas/coffees and is also licensed so you can enjoy a couple of drinks with a meal too. Please note that they usually close around 5-6 pm though, and is usually closed during the winter season (October to Easter). Beyond Malmsmead, there are a couple of choices within 5-10 minutes in the car; The Staghunters Inn in Brendon, and The Culbone Inn (between Malmsmead and Porlock) which is locally renowned for excellent food. Lynton and Lynmouth also has a good selection of pubs and restaurants (approx 6 miles away).
